Company Profile
Audubon's history actually begins in 1882 in Historic Philadelphia Pa. Arthur
Chester was president of the United States. It was a time we now call the
Industrial Revolution, and it was developing rapidly. A company called
Strawbridge & Chase was opened on Arch Street, and the company's business was
wire products. 2 years later, in 1884, the manufacturing facility moved to
Audubon, New Jersey, and along with the move came the new name,
Audubon.
And it's a name that is still going strong today.
Audubon quickly flourished during the industrial age and put all of its efforts
into designing and techonolgoy of wire mesh products. By 1913, Henry Ford
introduced the first moving assembly line in his automotive plant in Michigan.
That revolutionized the way the manufacturing plants worldwide developed their
products. With the use of Audubon conveyor belts, continuous production lines
sped up production tenfold. Conveyor Belts became a staple in the industrial
industry and Audubon was a huge part of that advancement.
By 1932, with Herbert Hoover as President of U.S, . our plant moved back to
Philadelphia Pa and during that decade our wire mesh conveyor belt division was
going strong. Our product was being used throughout the country and with each
year new methods of conveying products was developing rapidly. Industries
everywhere were finding a use for our product.
2005...121 years after the birth of Audubon. Our manufacturing facility is now
located just outside of Philadelphia, in Feasterville PA. With the move came
the experience, knowledge and excellent craftmanship of all the years past.
We've come a long way from the early designs of wire cloth and conventional
weave mesh. Audubon has set the standard for wire mesh conveyor belts
throughout the world. Our engineering department has always kept up with
industry and the constant need for improvement from manufacturing plants,
maintenance crews and engineers worldwide. Audubon belts have helped pave the
way for the automated industry and have kept up with the changes throughout that
time. Our name doesn't just stand for a a high quality belt, but it also stands
for longevity and experience. AUDUBON has been a leader in wire products and
wire mesh for over a century and we plan to keep it that way. We are proud to
have been a part of history, and plan to be a part of the future
