Continental is the largest UK manufacturer of belt conveyor systems and belt
conveyor components. The Company is based in Sunderland in the North East of

The Company was formed in 1998 and incorporates the Huwood, MECO and FSW
Conveyor brands. For more than 90 years the business has been designing and
manufacturing bulk material handling equipment for the mining, quarrying and
aggregate industries through the world.
In 2005 Continental had 45% of sales exported mainly to other European
countries. The Company currently employes 200 people.

The standard is designed to address the delicate balance between maintaining
profitability and reducing environmental impact; with the commitment of the
entire organization, this standard enables Continental to achieve both
objectives.
Continental has a permit from Sunderland City Council to operate a coating
process for fabricated metal components consisting of:A main paint process with
dry back filtration, two manual spray paint cells and a 3 stage pre-treatment
combined degrease, phosphate and wash, one dry off oven and one stoving oven.
Two touch up spray booths with dry back filtration units, each with one
manual spray paint cell.
Two Roller Paint Units with dry back filtration units, with one manual spray
paint cell and one utilising a manual mangle type roller painter.
